Weldon Angelos was a promising music producer and recording artist whose life took a dramatic turn when he was sentenced to 55 years in federal prison without the possibility for early release. At just 23 years old, Angelos was collaborating with industry legends Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur’s Outlawz and was on the verge of releasing albums featuring stars like 2Pac, Snoop, P!nk, and Nas. To support his burgeoning career, he sold cannabis. This ultimately drew the attention of local authorities in Salt Lake City, who weaponized federal laws against him, turning a low-level drug case into 20 felony charges.

In response to the drastic punishment, conservative billionaire Charles Koch, Senators Cory Booker and Mike Lee, Van Jones, and Snoop Dogg all join forces to fight for Angelos’ freedom. Director Anthony Pedone, who has his own justice involvement, tells the story of how the case ignited a nationwide movement to enact change in the criminal justice system.
