DEMENTIA AND LIVING WELL

In the United States alone, over six million people are living with dementia without any hope of a cure. While current research shows that a potential cure may be on the horizon, the lives of those who most likely won’t receive it are still worth living to the fullest.
Featuring a diverse group of people in Virginia and from across the country living with the condition, Dementia and Living Well de-stigmatizes the disease by showcasing that it is possible to lead a fulfilling and purpose-driven life with dementia. By following these individuals as they go about completing the tasks of everyday life—like going to the store, getting a haircut, or meeting new people—and highlighting the networks and organizations that make this possible, the film challenges preconceived notions about the condition.
Discussion with series creator and producer Jacquelyn Pogue and film subjects John Sullivan, Pat Sullivan, Barb Cole, and John Richard Pagan. Introduction by Dr. Carol Manning (UVA Health).
Supported by Cameron Mowat and George Worthington.
